Composition:-
Kadachhal(Hollarrhena antidysentrica) – 150 mg.: bitter, stomachic, astringent, powerful anti-dysentric, febrifuge and anthelmintic. This drug has now been tried on a large series of cases of chronic amoebic dysentery and the results obtained compare very favorably with any of the other drugs used. It is hope that the advent of these alkaloids will mark a definite advance in the treatment of chronic amoebiases. An infusion of the root bark, which is very bitter and most unpalatable, has been tried somewhat extensively in the treatment of amoebic dysentery. Tablets made from the bark (by European and Indian manufacturers) can be easily taken and when combined with emetine treatment are quite beneficial. Bark of the stem and root, preferably of the young plants and the seeds, are generally used as remedies in acute and chronic diarrhoeas and dysentery. (Ref: Dr. K.M. Anartwak (Punica granatum) – 50 mg. : Astringent, anthelmintic, taenifuge and stomachic. Bark of the tree and rind of the fruit are valuable in chronic diarrhea and the advanced stages of dysentery. Mardasingi (Helicteres isora) – 50 mg. : it is useful in intestinal disturbances such as colic, flatulence, diarrhea etc. (Ref: Dr. K.M. Nandakarni’s Indian Materia Medica,Vol.-1 Page No. 615)
Nagarmoth (Cyperus rottundus) – 30 mg. : Stimulant, tonic, demulcent, diuretic, anthelmintic, stomachic, carminative, diaphoretic, astringent, emmenagogue and vermifuge. Bilva (Aegle Marmelos) – 30 mg. : Prescribed in chronic diarrhea and dysentery, with debility of the mucous membrane, intestinal conditions specially useful in chronic diarrhea and dysentery of children where there is no fever. Mochras (Bombax Malabaricum) – 30 mg.: Astringent, styptic, diuretic. Very useful in dysentery and dysenteric diarrhea. (Ref: Dr. K.M. Nandakarni’s Indian Materia Medica,Vol.-1 page No. 208)
Dosage : - Children : 1 tablets 2 to 3 times a day with a milk.
